Kansas Double

It was a perfect morning to be turkey hunting - 58 degrees, sunny, no wind - and fellow Zink Pro-Staffer, Jay Longhauser, and I decided to try our hand before work. We had hunted this particular area a few days earlier, and had heard at least 10 gobblers hammering away. Thinking the same would happen, we put ourselves in position and waiting. To our amazement, we only heard two birds - and both of them were in the next county!

A move was in order, and we hit one green field after another runnin' and gunnin'. Finally, Jay pulled out his Crystal Power Hen and gave it a lick. BAM...not 100 yards away! We quickly got set up, and it was a good thing we did as not one or two but three giant gobblers sprinted into the field and were fast closing the distance between us. Well, to make a long story short, two didn't leave.

Note - I haven't put a tape measure to them yet, but I'm guessing the twins have 10-inch beards and inch-long spurs. And look at the central tailfeathers of the one I'm holding, how white...very cool!
