Rick Macfarlane

Rick Macfarlane currently resides in South Strabane, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Washington, PA. Rick grew up in the small farm town of Claysville, PA an area known for its whitetail deer and turkey hunting. Living in southwestern PA has given Rick the opportunity to hunt various types of game including Whitetail deer, turkey, upland game birds, varmints, and waterfowl.

Rick was in introduced to hunting at a young age of 12 by his step father, Dave. At a young age Rick learned how to train dogs for upland hunting as he and his step-father traveled to hunt tests with their four Britneys. Rick has now taken what his step father taught him and trained several labs for waterfowl hunting and hunt tests.

When Rick is not hunting or spending time with his kids, he is treating patients in the back of an ambulance at his full-time job that he has been employed with since 1993. Rick has job duties that include pt care, new employee training, and equipment/supply readiness.

In the early parts of spring you can find Rick with his 11 year old son, Jordon and 9 year old daughter, Morgan in the woods talking turkey. Rick and his kids enjoy hunting and filming turkey from the states of KY,WV, OH and PA. Filming turkey hunts is a new passion that Rick and his son Jordon found this year when they were filming footage for the 24/7 turkey DVD. In the 2010 season, Rick was able to capture on film 4 long beards taken by his 11 year old, son Jordon and 11 Toms taken by his hunting friends.

Most of the winter months you can find Rick on the river calling ducks with his PH-2 or laying in a corn field working a flock of honkers with his NOS. When Rick is not hunting with his friends or family you can find him traveling the country chasing the migration and guiding for a few local waterfowl guides. Hunting is a way of life for the Macfarlane family. The hunting seasons never end in this family, they are always thinking about hunting or preparing the necessary equipment for the hunting season that is around the corner.

Rick brings 24 years of hunting experience with him to the Zink Calls Z-Unit. Rick has had the opportunity to hunt with the Zink crew on a few of the 24/7 videos including Goose Camp, Turkey Time II. Rick has organized multiple turkey, duck, and goose calling competitions in his local area. Rick enjoys working outdoor shows and performing hunting seminars. The best part of the outdoor shows for Rick is talking the talk with fellow hunters or up and coming hunters. Rick enjoys sharing a tree or blind with a new hunter and believes by taking the youth of today hunting and introducing them to the outdoors, you will keep the hunting tradition alive just as Rick has done with his kids.
