Zink Calls Pro Staff

Ryan Cook

My name is Ryan Cook and I am from Mooresville, Indiana. I am 36 years old and am a teacher at Paul Hadley Middle School in the Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation. I teach Health/Physical Education and am also an Indiana Hunter Education Instructor. I am also a Varsity football coach at Decatur Central High School and coach the Receivers and Defensive Backs.

I have a Masters degree in Secondary Education from Olivet Nazarene University and received my Bachelors from the University of Indianapolis, where I played football from 1995 to 1998. Football is one of my true passions, there is nothing I enjoy more than the Friday night lights and taking the field with the Decatur Central Hawks. The atmosphere and intensity of the Hawk football program is something very special, and I am very proud to be a part of such an outstanding group of players and coaches!!

I spend most of my fall chasing ducks and geese in the White River bottoms of Central Indiana with my 10 year old black Lab, Jammer. Hunting waterfowl is a passion that consumes my every thought. Hunting waterfowl with my family and friends is something I look forward to all year, it is an obsession that dominates my life. Whether it is layout hunting big water divers of the Central Indiana gravel pits or field hunting Canada geese in the corn stubble of the White River bottoms, you will find me chasing waterfowl in some capacity over 60 days a year. We have recently expanded our hunting forays to the salt water bays of Maine for sea ducks as well as the legendary Mississippi River pools of Wisconsin for canvasbacks.

After waterfowl, nothing excites me more than chasing spring longbeards!! Over the past 18 years, I have hunted turkeys from Wisconsin to Florida, stopping in several states each season to hunt the king of the woods. One of the things I love most about turkey hunting is the dedication and woodsmanship it takes to consistantly kill mature longbeards. There is no greater feeling in the world than hearing the footsteps in the leaves, knowing that it is about to happen. Nothing like it!!!

I have been married to my lovely wife, Amy, for 11 years. Amy gave birth to our daughter, Kaci, on June 5, 2010. She has been the most awesome thing that has ever happened to us. Kaci spent her first night in the hospital with a Zink Little Man in her hospital crib and already loves to blow her dadŐs calls. She will honestly be able to say that she was a Zink member from day 1!!! I cannot thank Amy enough for putting up with the thousands of hours of calling, mostly in the house, that it takes to become a proficient caller. She is such a wonderful and supportive person and I am truly blessed to have Amy and Kaci in my life. I credit my passion for hunting to my dad, Rex Cook, who I will always consider my biggest hero. He took me everywhere with him when I was young and taught me the patience and attention to detail that it takes to successfully kill birds throughout the season. No matter what the conditions, most mornings you will find Jammer and I chasing the migration and continuing the traditions my dad taught me as a kid.

I feel very fortunate and honored to be a part of the Zink Team, the company that sets the standard in waterfowl and turkey calls. Being a part of such an elite group of waterfowl and turkey hunters is an amazing feeling. The Zink brotherhood is made up of literally thousands of dedicated hunters across the country and I am extremely proud to be a member of such a dedicated and passionate group of hunters.
