James Paben
Growing up in the heart of the Katy Prairie during the 1970s and 1980s was excellent place for a "youngster" to get their start as a duck or goose hunter. James Paben was one of those of lucky "youngsters." His love for ducks began at the age of five when his best friend Tyler invited him to go duck hunting with him and his older brother, Tim.  After that one trip James was hooked and any free time was then spent in the field with anyone who would supervise to two young boys hunting ducks.

Today James can still be found on the Katy Prairie living in Pattison, Texas with his wife Caty. He owns his own farrier business and guide service, where he shares his love for waterfowl with others. He donates his time as a guide to two youth hunts each season giving "youngsters" the same opportunity that was given to him.

In the off season James spends his time on the Super Retriever Series crew traveling throughout the United States organizing retriever trials. JP also served as chapter chairman for the Katy Ducks Unlimited chapter and formed the new Ducks Unlimited Chapter for Pattison.  He also enjoys fishing the Brazos, dove and quail hunting with his wife in West Texas and training Daisy, his four year old black lab.
