Brad Duty
Brad Duty hails from Goochland, Virginia a rural town west of Richmond. He is 39 years old and married with two children, Kimberly age 11 and Coleman, age 8. He is a salesman for crushed stone in the area.
Brad enjoys hunting geese and ducks the most in the local area and along the mid-Atlantic coast. Field hunting for geese during the early season and late migratory season is where he spends most of his time in the field. The agricultural fields in the area attract a large number of birds yearly and he and the Leg Iron Waterfowl crew enjoy mixing up their setup to pull wary geese into range. Well concealed Power Hunters and Finishers are deadly! Although he has not guided professionally, Brad enjoys taking business clients on many local hunts.
Brad has started getting his feet wet in contest calling by entering the Bass Pro Shops Maryland Open last fall. He will be looking to enter more events in the upcoming months. He and another partner started the local Ducks Unlimited Chapter eight years ago and the annual dinner has grown to over 200 people attending. The annual Greenwing event hosts more than 40 kids now. Currently, Brad is involved in getting a Delta Waterfowl chapter going in the Richmond area. In addition, Brad is involved with the local youth athletic association, coaching his kid's softball and baseball teams.
Hunting started for Brad around age 10 when he began deer hunting with his Dad. He continued pursuing deer, mainly with the bow and also caught the spring gobbler bug. In his early twenties he became interested in waterfowl hunting and his good friend, Mike Harris, took him under his wing. They have pursued ducks and geese yearly ever since in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. In the mid-90s an annual trek to North Dakota pothole country was started with a trip or two into Saskatchewan thrown in. Freelancing in both areas has fueled the water fowling fire and developed some great friendships with local landowners.
Brad would like to expand the Zink call and product line into the Virginia and mid-Atlantic area with his knowledge of local sporting goods stores and the hunting community. Familiarizing local hunters with his Zink calls has already triggered many of them to buy the product.
