I am 24 years old and was born and raised in Twenty-Nine Palms, California. My father was in the United States Marine Corps and consequently I have moved to numerous places with my family throughout the years. It wasn't until August of 1998 when my dad retired from the Marines after 22 years of service and we moved back to his hometown in American Falls, Idaho. Little did I know it was the best place for waterfowl to stop and feed during their migration. After school one evening about mid-November my father said that he couldn't wait any longer and said he was going to give me an early Christmas present. He then brought out a new Mossburg 835 "Ulti Mag" 3 ½ inch and put it together and said to me "lets go find some ducks." We headed out to the lake bluffs then snuck over and heard ducks quacking from below. My heart started pounding and my father told me "when I say go we're going to lean up and jump shoot 'em." After a few minutes, we stood up, fired and knocked down 2 drakes and 1 hen. Afterward, I took off down the bluff to retrieve my ducks but the wind kicked in and started taking the ducks further out into the lake. My father then asked me who was going to go in after them and I was so excited that I told him I would do it. I stripped down to my shorts and went in after them about neck high where I managed to pull them in. Talk about ethical hunting. I would still do it to this day if I had to.
I became so hooked on duck hunting that every weekend during the waterfowl season I was chasing ducks with my cousin Robert. Nobody, not even the worst disease could stop us from going out and pounding ducks every chance we had. I then turned to goose hunting in October of 2000 where I became the most addicted goose hunter in American Falls. I met pro-staffer Cody Bair at a local Sportsman's Warehouse where he introduced my father and me to Zink Calls. After blowing my first Zink goose call I became even more hooked. My favorite call is my recent purchase of the Sportsman's Warehouse special edition Money Maker. I love using this call on a snowy day, in a winter wheat field, sitting in my Finisher on the X throwing geese my favorite calls of "quick spits and spit notes." My favorite fields to hunt for geese are in winter wheat and corn fields. Although I am an avid hunter of deer, elk, coyotes, doves, and pheasants nothing is better than a nice flock of big honkers turning their heads and answering to every call you make.
I recently moved to Ellensburg, Washington with my fiancèe, Cori. I am now looking forward to hunting and meeting people here in Washington that share the same obsession of hunting and fishing. When I am not out in the field hunting I love to fish on the rivers and lakes with my fiancée and her family. I hope to bring my abilities, strategies, and knowledge of waterfowl hunting to Zink Calls, present hunters and other future water fowlers to come.
