Tom Marvel

Tom Marvel was born, raised, and still resides in Kent county Maryland which is regarded as one best waterfowl hunting destinations on the east coast. He is a 4th generation wingshooting outfitter on Maryland's famed Eastern Shore and operates Chesapeake Guide Service out of his Galena, Maryland home. He's seen a lot of changes in hunting occur over the years. Now at 44 years old he looks back when he was guiding during the 90 day 3 bird limit days of the 80's and early 90's, and then remembers the 6 year moratorium placed on Canada geese when the population dropped to alarming numbers. Even after so many years of guiding and outfitting Tom still finds himself looking forward to the next day's hunt, knowing that if he did his homework and the plan comes together, another successful day will be enjoyed. But for Tom, it's not always the birds in the bag that makes a good day afield. The friendships we've acquired with our clients over the years says a lot about our operation. We look forward to seeing our hunters returning in the fall, catching up on news while spending time in the blinds with them year after year.

Taking care of a hunting operation of this size is a full time job year 'round. Starting with dove and Resident Population Canada Geese on September 1 and with Snow Goose season ending in mid-March, Tom spends an average of 100 days in the field. While it makes for a longer season than the average hunter experiences, it still is work, and to unwind Tom enjoys traveling to North Dakota and Saskatchewan every October to experience waterfowling in a more relaxed atmosphere. No clients to impress, just friends on a great trip to a hunter's paradise.

Tom has been married for 20 years to his wife Pam, and they have a 17 year old daughter named Brooke. He has been involved with Ducks Unlimited for over 20 years serving as the local area chairman and also zone chairman for the state of Maryland. In 2004 he was fortunate enough to join the Avery Pro-Staff.
