Joe Fladeland
Joe Fladeland is 18 years old and lives in Bismarck, North Dakota. He is the youngest of four children. No one in his family hunts, but as a kid he always loved fishing, and in the 5th grade, he took an interest in hunting. His parents soon gave in and got him his first 20ga. shotgun for his next birthday. A family friend took him on his first hunt the next fall, where he shot his first duck, a blue-winged teal. He has been hooked ever since. Soon after, he became a member of Ducks Unlimited and is now a committee member for the Bismarck chapter as well as the University of Mary chapter.

Joe's favorite type of hunting is decoying late-season Mallards and Canada Geese in the agricultural fields of North Dakota. He loves getting the birds in close over the decoys. Although these are his favorite species to hunt, he shoots everything from Redheads to Blue-winged teal throughout the season. When Joe is not hunting waterfowl, he is always out watching them and studying their behavior. During the off-season, he enjoys fishing and outdoor photography. He photographs everything from North Dakota landscapes to Bald Eagles to Wood Ducks.
