Ryan Cook
My name is Ryan Cook and I live in Mooresville, Indiana. I am 34 years old and am a teacher at Paul Hadley Middle School. I teach Health/Physical Education and am also a Hunter Education instructor for Morgan County. I am a Varsity Football coach atDecatur Central High School with the receivers and defensive backs.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Indianapolis where I played football from 1995 to 1998. I received my Masters Degree in Secondary Education from Olivet Nazarene University and continue my teaching career in the MooresvilleSchool system.
I spend my fall relentlessly chasing ducks and geese in the White River bottoms of Central Indiana with my 8 year old Black Lab, Jammer. Hunting waterfowl is a passion that drives me everyday of my life. Spending time with my family and friends hunting waterfowl is something I look forward to every year, it is an obsession that dominates my every thought. Whether it is layout hunting big water divers on the Central Indiana gravel pits or field hunting geese in the corn stubble of the White River bottoms, you can find me chasing birds over 60 days each season.
After waterfowl, nothing excites me more than hunting spring longbeards. Over the past 15 years, I have hunted from Wisconsinto Florida stopping in several states each spring. One of the things I love most about turkey hunting is the daily test of woodsmanship and patience that is required to consistently and successfully kill mature gobblers. There is nothing more exciting than that feeling when you know "he's coming."
I have been married to my lovely wife Amy for 9 years. She has patiently put up with thousands of hours of goose and turkey calling, most of it in the house, that it takes to become a proficient caller. I will always be thankful for such a wonderful and supportive wife. I credit my passion for hunting to my dad, Rex Cook, who will always consider my biggest hero. He took me everywhere hunting with him when I was very young and taught me the patience and attention to detail that it takes to consistently and successfully kill birds throughout the entire season. No matter what the conditions, most mornings you will find Jammer and I hunting ducks and geese in the fields and rivers of the Indiana bottoms.
I feel very fortunate and honored to be part of the Zink team, a call company that sets the standard in waterfowl and turkey calls. Calling is such an important part of the sports that dominate my life and I would never trust another call to the success of my hunts. Simply put, Zink calls really are second to none!!
