Mark Bennett
My name is Mark Bennett. I am 32 years old and currently live Lebanon, KY with my wife Kelly and daughter Lydia. I have been employed at Curtis Maruyasu America for the past 12 years as a Tool and Die maker.
My Dad introduced me to hunting at a very young age. I started hunting squirrels and doves and later to deer and turkey. I went on my first duck hunt at the age of 17 in Ballard County, KY with a family member and some friends, and I have been hooked ever since. There is nothing like the sound of whistling wings at daylight and the sight of cupped and committed ducks and geese. I spend the fall and winter months chasing ducks and geese in KY, and Southern IL with my family and friends. I am consumed by waterfowl hunting year round.
After waterfowl season, I turn my attention to chasing spring longbeards. I harvested my first turkey at age 16 and have been hooked ever since. I have killed many turkeys and learned many lessons on what not to do in the turkey woods. Making mistakes and turning your mistakes into success is what makes you a better person and hunter. When everything comes together and you know that longbeard is "on his way", there is no greater feeling of accomplishment.
Over the years I have grown my own techniques and hands on knowledge of the great outdoors. Sharing these life experiences with young outdoor enthusiast, once like myself is what makes hunting for me not just a sport but more an enjoyable memory. Hopefully one day I will be able to make those same memories with my daughter. When teaching the sport of hunting I also try to instill the values of preservation of our great outdoors. I always respect the land I am hunting and am thankful to God for what he has provided me with.
I still do a small amount of deer hunting, and shooting a nice deer in between turkey and waterfowl season is a plus. When not hunting, you will find me with my Hoyt in my hands, traveling KY shooting competition 3D archery, or traveling to waterfowl shows with friends.
Hunting is my passion and I enjoy trying new gear and teaching people about the outdoors as well as learning new things myself.
